24 Jul What does silence have to do with yoga?
“May you find again within yourself the deep life giving silence which is genuine truth and the source of truth.” ~ Thomas Merton
A period of personal silence, called mauna, enables us to reconnect with our inner self. We suffer from over-stimulation and being drawn out far too much and too often into worldly concerns and other people’s dramas. By setting aside a time, maybe just a few hours each week, to unplug, get still and be with yourself in quiet refection, much inspiration and self knowledge will be revealed.
True Yoga requires that we step back from the outer experience of self and tune into the knowing of inner Self. Then we can enjoy the union that yoga is all about.
